A low-key weekend...just what this hard workin' mama needed. I worked SO much last week - it was awful. I was miserable all week. I cried more than I have in a long time. And I was just spent. So a weekend of no plans was exactly what I needed. I had to work until 6 Friday and then went and picked up Camden from the Crossfit box Matt works out/coaches at. We made a quick stop at Rite Aid and, of course, I had to spoil my little guy - he pretty much got what he asked for....a new sippy cup, a box of gluten free chocolate cookies, and some plastic Easter eggs. We got home, face timed with my parents, had some dinner, and headed to bed. Saturday I got up with Camden and snuggled with him on the couch while we watched some Daniel Tiger for a little bit. I headed out for a quick run and as soon as I got home C asked to take a shower (he's obsessed with taking showers lately!!) So I jumped in with him while Matt headed to his box to help out/coach (first week of Crossfit Open so he'll be there more than usual.) So after our shower, C and I headed out for our date. Our first stop - Target. He got to pick out a new toy and also bribed me into buying him a new t-shirt ("because I have to have it mama.") And as we were walking to the registers, we walked past the cards and out of the corner of his eye he saw a card with a duck on it and runs over to it and says "I have to buy this for daddy." And there was no talking him out of it so we bought the card and I realized I'm doing something right. This kid is seriously the sweetest, most thoughtful child EVER. After Target, we headed to the library where we read books and played. It was so, so much fun - Camden and I both thrive on one on one time with each other :) We headed home for a quick lunch and nap. I actually napped while he did, which was glorious, and Matt spent that quiet time working on our taxes. We spent the rest of Saturday just hanging out and playing. We ordered Mexican takeout for dinner and after Camden was in bed Matt and I just watched some TV and indulged in some adult beverages. Sunday Camden was up bright 'n' early so Matt got up with him so I could sleep until 7. I got downstairs and almost immediately bundled Camden up and outside we went. We had gotten a little bit of snow overnight so he loved gathering that up and playing in it. He got cold so we went inside and continued to play with the snow inside, burying his animals in it and all that sorta fun stuff. The boys went grocery shopping while I hit up my Barre/Pilates class (which off topic - I am so obsessed with!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!) I got home shortly after 11 and Matt was already starting the week's food prep. Camden was getting tired and cranky so we sat down for lunch but he didn't really want anything to do with it. He was just crying and being whiny, asking for his binky and to snuggle with me. So off to the couch we went and within 5 minutes he was fast asleep in my arms and I was in HEAVEN. I seriously could have stayed there all day with him. And the rest of the day was more of the same - playing, laundry, etc. This mama needed this sort of weekend with her little guy and I could tell Camden did too. There is nothing more this kid loves than his family and just being home with us.

Happy Valentine's Day from our little family to yours. Every day is Valentine's Day with these two. My heart is full - so, so full. These two boys are the light of my life and make me so incredibly happy. I hope your day is full of love, laughter, and happiness. <3 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY <3 Oh, and to brag on my hubs. Take a look at my Valentine's Day present from Camden. He was SO excited to give it to me this morning - the cutest thing EVER!!
It's been quite a while since I last posted. Life I tell ya...it's cray - cray!! And since I've been MIA for so long I thought a random update/thoughts post would be good. So here we go...
~ first and foremost, Camden is amazing. Seriously - I LOVE 2!! Sure I could do without the meltdowns but ya know, I was prepared for them. So most days I feel like we have a good handle on those. But in any case, the kid is awesome. He is so incredibly smart...and funny, like really, really funny. He's currently a horrible eater, especially at dinner. It's like at dinner he's just over with eating for the day and wants nothing to do with food anymore. We used to push him but now we're just like whatever. If he eats great - if not we don't stress over it. He is really into Daniel Tiger and Paw Patrol. He loves his play kitchen (his specialty is chicken nugget soup LOL) His other favorite toys include this farm, Paw Patrol mashems, Superhero Mr Potato Head, and his B. Young brand bus (I can't find it online anywhere. I know my mother in law bought it for him from Target when it was on clearance last year.) He loves to take showers with either myself or Matt. He was doing really good at potty training but he has sort of regressed. When we're home sometimes he'll want to sit on the potty and other times he has not interest. Since he's so young yet we aren't pushing it but do encourage him to use the potty as often as possible. He is also our early riser - usually around 6/6:15. On average he naps for 2 hours every day. He legitimately talks NON-STOP, says the funniest things, and LOVES to sing and dance! He's pretty darn perfect if you ask me <3 ~ My work is CRAZY! Not only is it our busiest time of year but we are down quite a few positions. The other Accounting Manager just up and left - no notice...nothing!! So it's been nuts here. The days are long, and stressful, and basically I just feel like I spend my days putting out fires - while also trying to do my actual day-to-day responsibilities. Due to all these changes I was offered a promotion as Director of Finance. Awesome - right? Yes, of course. BUT......I turned it down. The money would have been great - but I'm not at the point of my life where I want all that pressure and even more stress and responsibility. Right now Camden is my life & him and Matt are my priority and where I want to put my time and energy into - NOT work. It wasn't an easy decision at all for me but in the end I know I made the right choice for where my family is and what I want out of life. My little family comes first - no matter what. ~ My workouts have only been so-so lately. On average I work out 4 times a week, which I don't love (I'd much prefer that number to be 5 times a week but it is what it is right now.) I haven't been running because of some knee pain. That has me really bummed out, not gonna lie. I have, however, been taking a Barre/Pilates class on Sunday and am LOVING it!!! The barre portion of the class is out of my comfort zone but let me tell ya - it's no joke. It's hard!! I work up quite a sweat in that class and love how I feel afterwards. ~ This past Saturday Matt competed in a team CrossFit competition out in Utica. His team did GREAT and I'm glad he had the opportunity to do this. And I, of course, loved the one on one time I had with Camden. We spent Saturday visiting with family and friends and it was just a nice day (busy but nice!) ~ I can't really think of much else. I'm sure there is SO much more but honestly I can't even think straight (and it's only 8:15 in the morning!) So with that - Happy Hump Day!! |
